Description

Welcome to the House of Metallurgy and Industry of Liège!

The museum offers an immersive experience in the "Walloon forge" around a 17th-century blast furnace, installed on a former steel industry site. The secrets of iron manufacturing are revealed throughout the visit.

The other rooms house a very rich and sometimes unexpected heritage: engines, rare documents, scale models, and unusual objects allow visitors to explore the highlights of the history of technology and the metamorphoses of Liège's industry.

Let yourself be surprised by an impressive steam engine and trace back the history of energy; meet Philomène Boulanger, a "botteresse" (female porter), Dony and zinc, or John Cockerill, symbol of the Industrial Revolution.
