Welcome to Maquis Alpacas, an alpaca farm in Gouvy. Eric and his team take care of their animals and make beautiful yarn to keep you warm and cosy. Would you like to meet them and find out more about their work? They will give you a short guided tour and explain how knitting yarn is made.
A unique animal
Alpacas are curious and mischievous animals that like to meet new people and have fun. Above all, they love to be fed by our visitors! Although they are not cuddly, they are still very friendly, cooperative and great fun.
A little something soft
Alpacas produce a fibre that is incredibly soft, just like them! There are 16 official colours, ranging from white to deep black with all variations of beige, brown and grey. In addition to being hypo-allergenic, this fibre provides an unparalleled thermo-regulating effect. Don’t miss a visit to the farm's small shop.
You will learn all about the process of selection, from the animal to the weaving machines to the finished product. It will open your eyes to the fascinating world of this rare profession and delicate craft.
Outside of organised visits, the farm is closed to the public. Don't forget to book!
