Take a stroll through the sculpture gallery at Arlon’s Archaeological Museum and admire dozens of scenes that bear witness to the idealised image that wealthy Gallo-Romans wished to leave of themselves through the splendour of their ornate burial monuments. Meet the gods and goddesses who shaped the lives of our ancestors and discover their beliefs and customs.
You will be astounded by the craftsmanship of the stonemasons, potters, metalworkers and glassblowers of the time. You will also be impressed by the trade routes they managed to maintain with other regions across the Roman Empire.
The Archaeological Museum is also an excellent choice for a day out with your little ones. The museum has put together a fascinating dedicated children's trail, complete with a highly informative accompanying booklet. Your budding Indiana Jones won't know which way to look!
As well as the permanent collection, the museum also holds temporary exhibitions each year around archaeology, the Gallo-Roman period or one other era.
